A vigorous, narrow form of pond cypress selected and introduced by Earl Cully and the Morris Arboretum. Plants add an elegant dimension to the landscape with their thread-like, sage-green leaves that attach themselves to narrow stems. The overall effect is a delicate, fine-textured tree. A wacky dwarf form of Bald Cypress that is quickly becoming one of our favorites. Plants develop an irregular, rounded form and literally cover themselves with clusters of rounded, 1" cones. Plants grow only 1-2" a year and are expected to reach 5' x 5' when mature. Learn More

A very rare and unusual bald cypress with branches that twist and contort in an irregular fashion as the plant gains height. Foliage is rich green during the growing season and is contorted and clustered along the stems appearing more like a juvenile cedar than a bald cypress. Certainly unique among the deciduous conifers. A new selection of bald cypress named and introduced by Don Shadow. Plants are reported to develop a prominent upright leader with all secondary branches drooping strongly against the main trunk. We haven’t seen a picture yet but can imagine a fantastic form. Learn More

Yet another charming dwarf form of bald cypress that has caught our attention. This cultivar dates back to a witches’ broom discovered in Hampshire, England’s Hursley Park in the mid 1960’s. The plant itself is still relatively new to our trials yet has taken on a low, broad form with annual growth of 2-3”. The foliage is densely arranged along the stems and brighter green than the other cultivars in the collection. A bizarre yet irresistible bald cypress cultivar that has caused a “what the heck is that” response on multiple occasions. The upright, loosely branched plants boast thin, amber stems that are cloaked with the cutest, teeny-tiniest deep green leaves you can imagine. In autumn, like the species the foliage turns to rich shades of golden-bronze. A distinct new Dutch selection that slowly develops into an attractive, upright-pyramidal form. Plants are completely different than the classic bald cypress and may prove to be one of the finest new conifers to emerge on the market in recent years. The compact plants have sturdy, dense branches cloaked with fine-textured, fresh green foliage throughout the season.
