Clematis

This rare clematis roams the stream banks of the southern United States; flaunting attractive bluish-green foliage and lavender-pink flowers in June to October. The 1” tulip-like blossoms, perched above the foliage, have curling sepals exposing a creamy-white interior. Each 10-15’ vine provides plenty of flower power for nectar-hunting hummingbirds. A shrubby, non-vining clematis reaching 1.5 to 2’ tall, with 2-4” long, dark-green, sessile leaves. The solitary violet-blue flowers appear in late spring and will continue for weeks. The developing flower buds appear facing upwards, but upon opening bow their twisting recurved sepals toward the ground. Prefers moist, fertile soils in full sun. Learn More
