Mt. Laurel Festival - Saturday, June 1st - Sunday, June 9th

Time: Daily 9AM-5PM Cost: Free

Come visit the nursery when the world's largest collection of mountain laurel is in all its glory. Find out about the plants and people behind this amazing collection or stroll through the nursery grounds and experience the many unique and unusual specimens. A selection of choice mountain laurel cultivars will be available for purchase. Don't miss this rare opportunity to see the tremendous diversity of flower colors and plant habits now available in Connecticut's state flower. The nursery grounds will be open daily from 9am to 5pm with guided tours of the laurel collection each day at 10 am.

Garden Conservancy Open Days Program - Saturday, June 1st

Join us at Margaret's home for a rare opportunity to stroll through her twenty-five year old garden. Take in the plant driven design that focuses on good foliage and wildlife interest as you stroll through the informal mixed borders, shrubberies, frog-filled water gardens and container groupings. Dinosaur Plants - Wednesday, June 26th

Time: 6-8 PM Cost: $15.00 Pre-registration Required

Join our Sales Manager Christopher Koppel and take a journey millions of years back in time! Forget the reptiles and learn about the plants that covered the earth during the time of the dinosaurs. From the extinct plants we never came to know, to living fossils that still find themselves in our gardens today, we will explore the genre of "Dinosaur Plants".

Cutting Propagation for the Home Gardener - Tuesday and Wednesday, July 1st & 2nd

Time: 10AM-12PM or 6PM-8PM Cost: $35.00 Pre-registration Required

Come join our Propagation and Plant Development Manager, Adam Wheeler, for this fun-filled, hands-on workshop focused on the propagation of plants by summer stem cuttings. Participants will be given a brief lecture that examines the techniques and skills required to grow plants from cuttings. Following the lecture participants will construct their own home propagation systems and stick a selection of cuttings from the nursery collection.

Show Your Colors; Broken Arrow Plants to Dye For - Wednesday, July 24th

Time: 6-8 PM Cost: $25.00 Pre-registration Required

We gardeners have access to a beautiful range of colors from our garden plants--and weeds, too! In addition to flowers and leaves, dyes can be extracted from bark, roots and seeds as well as fungi, ferns and lichens. Plant dyeing as a simple, inexpensive and environmentally sensitive process will be demonstrated. Safe and easy projects that can be done with children will also be shown. See the surprising colors hidden in some of our Broken Arrow plants. Participants will receive a basic dyeing instruction sheet and a list of references and suppliers. Participants will take home a silk scarf they've dyed.

Divide and Conquer; Perennial Division Workshop - Sunday, August 11th

Time: 1-3 PM Cost: $25.00 Pre-registration Required

Join our Perennial Manager, Carl Galanter, who will be armed to the hilt and assist you in vanquishing those fears of dividing. Timing of and the techniques used for dividing will be demonstrated on plants in containers and ones removed from the garden. Hands on demolition will be encouraged; the gauntlet has been thrown, in which case you may go home with the spoils.

East Meets West - Sunday, September 8th

Time: 1-3 PM Cost: $15.00 Pre-registration Required

It's the bout of the century as our Nursery Manager, Andy Brand, and Sales Manager, Chris Koppel, go twelve rounds to decide the undisputed champion; USA or Japan. Andy and Chris will each present and compare a wide range of plants native to both countries, in an attempt to prove which is superior. Who will prevail? Come and join in the fun as we learn about the difference within individual plant genera that are shared by these two countries of great horticultural prominence.

Shade Gardening - Sunday, October 6th

Time: 1-3PM Cost: $20.00 Pre-registration Required

Shade gardening is far from a liability, in fact, creating a green haven in the shade is one of the most rewarding gardens you can make.

Join noted plantsman, lecturer and author David Culp as he shares with us the many pleasures of shade gardening. Dave will share design ideas and the mechanics of shade gardening. He will also share his favorite plants for a four season shade garden.
