Acer pentaphyllum is a supremely rare species maple hailing from China where it nears extinction in the wild. The decidedly unique foliage features five-lobed medium green leaves that are graceful and elongated adding an elegant nature to the garden. Although plants are late to emerge in spring, patience is rewarded when the gifted growth elongates. The small statured plants blend well in part shade situations with orange and occasionally red fall tones adding seasonality.
