An alluring Chinese species closely allied to the US native, C. floridus. The species was formerly classified in the genus Sinocalycanthus but was recently re-named. This vigorous shrub grows 6-10' tall with bold, medium green leaves that turn bright yellow in fall. In June, delicate, rounded buds unfold to display sumptuous, 3", pink-blushed white flowers accentuated by a ring of yellow stamens. Plants are easily grown in average garden soil in dappled shade. Blends nicely into the shrub border or woodland garden.
