An attractive, deer resistant spruce native to the Rocky Mountains from Wyoming to New Mexico. Older plants in the wild can rise to 100 or 120' in height. Landscape specimens are generally smaller in stature, obtaining 40-50' in time. The sharp needles are variable in color, ranging from silvery-blue to forest-green. Plants grow best in full sun in well-drained soils.
