A dramatic and unusual hydrangea boasting massive 8-12" heavily felted leaves that are hard to beat for foliage texture in the garden. These leaves are among the largest we’ve seen in the world of hydrangeas and offer a bit more of the stubbly hair on the leaves and stems than other varieties of this species. Equally impressive clusters of lacecap flowers adorn the plants from summer through autumn. The panicles are comprised of lavender interior flowers surrounded by a halo of white sterile florets. Plants perform admirably in rich, evenly moist soils and have proven to be quite a bit more cold tolerant than some predicted. We’ve seen good performance in both full sun and part shade garden locations where plants tend to be rather upright and coarsely branched when compared to other varieties of the species.
