The upright, rounded shrubs sport simple, elegant white blossoms in spring coupled with distinctive apple-red hips in fall. Blue cast, pinnate leaves add a handsome texture to the slender stems which are armed with the most eye-catching transparent winged red thorns. Plants resist many of the classic rose ailments and add garden impact in a manner a step apart from most members of the genus.
