A rarely encountered, moderate sized, deciduous tree native to central China. The large, cordate to ovate leaves emerge in spring flushed with burgundy overtones and age to rich, glossy green by early summer. By August plants are cloaked with a wonderful display of finely textured, creamy-white, terminal flower panicles. Cultural requirements are a bit unclear; however the few plants we have witnessed were growing happily in well-drained soils in either full sun or partial shade. Makes a unique novelty plant and is sure to stump your plant crazed friends!
